SEL Speaker Series - 12/6/18 "Build Connections in a Disconnected World"

Dear Families,

Most of us find ourselves and our children spending more time on screen interaction and less time with human interaction.  However, with the skills provided by Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), we can reconnect in meaningful ways.  If you want to learn how to reconnect with yourself and your children, join us at the next Social and Emotional Learning Speaker Event where Keeth Matheny will provide us with tools to “Build Connections in a Disconnected World”.

Mr. Matheny is a co-author and high school teacher/instructional coach in the Austin (Texas) Independent School District.  His practice is focused on helping students thrive through Social and Emotional Learning:

SEL Speaker Series with R. Keeth Matheny
Thursday, December 6
4 – 8 p.m.
Nugget Casino Resort
1100 Nugget Ave, Sparks

This free event is part of a series of SEL workshops for families and school staff.  Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain a positive relationship, and make responsible decisions.  This event includes workshops on social awareness, connecting safely in an online environment, and effective discipline practices, among others.

To attend, please register using the link below.  Children two years old and above can obtain free childcare and snacks.  Interpretation services are also available.
