Cymbal News - January 2018

CYMBAL Update, Updated!

IMPORTANT! Next week on Wed. January 31st is a meeting that is very important to the future of our school’s music programs. Music programs in our schools are currently up against budget challenges within the WCSD School District. The district is changing their previous budgeting allocation guidelines for all teacher allotments based on “the value programs and operations provide.” As part of this value-based allocation system, WCSD staff and the Board of Trustees are hosting meetings where they are counting on feedback from parents about what programs in our schools carry the most value to students and families. Our local meeting takes place in INCLINE VILLAGE on Wed. January 31st from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Incline Middle School located at 931 Southwood Boulevard. We encourage you to be present for this meeting and to consider expressing your thoughts on the value of our music programs and the need for WCSD to commit to having full time music teachers at all three of our public schools. Your participation at this meeting is vital for maintaining our school programs and teachers and particularly for preventing music teacher job loss. We are counting on your help at this very important meeting.

SAVE THE DATE! May 14th you are cordially invited to CYMBAL’s “MOONLIGHT JAZZ CLUB!” An evening of food, drink, dancing and live music by our very own Incline High School and Middle School jazz bands! More details to come soon including event location and ticket details.
